Ohio Public School District Typology


Ohio further classifies its public school district (614 schools) based on a typology that was developed in 2013. This typology considers the following factors;

           •          location (rural, small town, suburan or urban),

           •          student population size (very small, small, average, large, very large)

           •          percent of student in poverty (very high, high, average, low)


For 2014,  20% (123) were Type 1: Rural - High Student Poverty & Small Student Population. By contrast,  .7% (8) were urban, very high student poverty and very large student population. Six public school districts did not report the typology3.
