Since Summer 2017, as members of Dignity for Schools Campaign, Racial Justice NOW! has met in D.C., Jackson, MS and New Orleans, LA as well as weekly phone conferences for planning sessions to develop the ESSA Engage for Equity Handbook for students, parents and other stakeholders. In partnership with NAACP Legal Defense Fund (LDF) and Partner’s for Each and Every Child (The Opportunity Institute) RJN! has spent countless hours with other DSC members building a tool that puts the accountability of decision makers to make sure Black, Brown, special needs and other vulnerable students have access to equitable educational resources and policies, ensuring their academic success.

In January 2018, the group held a successful briefing in Washington, D.C. with a room full of potential national corporate and foundation investors to assist with the distribution of the handbook. RJN! continues to work with state and local policy makers to provide the heart of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), meaningful engagement, to end the racial disparities and inequities for Black students locally and statewide.
