Racial Justice NOW! Statement of Solidarity with the Senatobia, Mississippi family of Kohen Wiley
Racial Justice NOW! stands in solidarity with the family of the executed one year old Kohen Wiley, with Patrick Lumumba and the hundreds of community members that protested at the Senatobia City Hall to demand justice for the police murder of a one-year-old child, and the critical injury of family friend.
A police officer shot inside a car based on the report of shoplifting from Walmart. This act of deadly violence was unwarranted and committed by a Police officer that has been reported to be a known racist and excused from other Police forces within the state.
Racial Justice NOW! supports the full prosecution of the said officer with a full investigation. The citizens of Senatobia, Tate County, and the state of Mississippi deserve better and should not have to live under constant police surveillance and terrorism. As discussed during the justice rallies, Senatobia, Mississippi has a history of deep seeded anti-Black racism in the police department and city as shared by Patrick Lumumba, leader of the Black Liberation Movement and lifelong resident of the city of Senatobia.
RJN! Partners with and organizes across generations of impacted youth, parents, and communities to build and wield people power at the grassroots to advance human rights by challenging systemic anti-Black racism, the criminalization of Black families, and discriminatory policies in education and beyond.
We will continue to stand up for Black people and Black life whenever and wherever our people call on us.
